I had my gallbladder out and, while I agree with you that God didn't make any mistakes and didn't give us a gallbladder for no reason, my doctor said I don't need it. My family and I are meat and potatoes eaters, which is probably making my problem worse so I am willing to change my diet. But what consequences are there if I don't have my gallbladder and, for those who do have their gallbladder (like my husband and kids), what can they do to take care of it so they can keep it? While I had mine out, I still have a lot of gas, bloating and cramping, plus I have uncontrolled diarrhea and have no been diagnosed with I.B.S. Now what? ~ Marsha/New Haven, CT
The standard American diet of "meat and potatoes" followed by dessert or bisquits and gravy, pancakes and bacon with syrup, etc. are probably a large part of the cause for stone formation and other dysfunction in the liver and gallbladder. That type of diet was fine for farmers and other workers who rose with the sun, performed hard labor all day, then went to bed with the cows as the sun went down. They needed the calories and nutrients of a high protein and high starch/carbohydrate diet because they fully digested and burned it all, stayed fit and lived well. But under today's general standard of living with significantly less labor required to get by, meals of protein from meat, poultry, wild fish, nuts, etc. and carbohydrates from fresh vegetables and fruits are better choices than the high fat and starch combinations of yesteryear (see the Anti-fungal Diet article under the category, Diets and Cleanses).
The gallbladder is an organ under the liver that stores bile secreted by the liver, then injects what is needed to help breakdown fats during digestion of foods. We believe complications may arise when the gallbladder is removed because the liver overworks; using Vital WasabiSol SAWA and/or LiveRx would be very helpful in supporting liver function. In our opinion, it is not only important to perform fasting cleanses from time-to-time to cleanse the liver and gallbladder (see Hanna Kroeger's Apple Juice Liver/Gallbladder Fasting Cleanse) but it is also important to change the diet to prevent stone formation. Chanca Piedra and Hanna Kroeger's KST Tea are helpful when the diet is not optimal, but why not try food combining?
CONSIDER FOOD COMBINING; FOR EACH MEAL:
Proteins are coupled with vegetables (does not include corn, peas, potatoes or tomatoes)
OR
Grains/starches (includes corn, peas, potatoes or tomatoes) are coupled with vegetables
Proteins and grains/starches are never consumed together (except that whole-grain brown rice and Granny Smith apples are considered neutral and may be consumed at any time with any food combination).
Fruits (except Granny Smith apples) should be consumed at least 2 hours before or after any other food combination by themselves.
BUT I HAD MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED; NOW WHAT? When the gallbladder is removed, the liver overworks and many other gastrointestinal disorders occur because there is no "regulator" injecting the correct amount of bile into the intestines to properly breakdown fats. This leads to imbalance, causing cramping, bloating, diarrhea, gas and possibly even "dumping syndrome," in which food is passed through the stomach into the intestinal tract undigested, then out of the body (typically diarrhea) and no nutrients are derived. Diarrhex homeopathic for diarrhea as a temporary helper but the I.B.S. Kit and probiotic, such as FloraMax50, Vital Flora, Ultimate FloraCritical Care or SupremaDophilus should resolve the issue in the long-term.
Experience indicates that supplements that contain a combination of Ox Bile, enzymes and other digestive aids is helpful when the gallbladder has been removed. Superzymes (1-2 per meal) are excellent when there is no indication of stomach ulcers. If there is a stomach ulcer present, Reflux-Away, PepZin GI and DGX are very helpful in combination.
In all cases, high-quality, high-potency probiotics are very helpful and should be considered necessary (taking 100 - 200 billion flora per day or more is recommended). Vital Flora, Ultimate FloraCritical Care or FloraMax 50 (2 upon rising and 2 at bedtime of any of these) are excellent choices.
