My doctor says I am in the beginning stages of Osteoporosis. What is it and what can I do about it? ~ Sheri/East Texas
Dear Sheri ~ Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become fragile, resulting in frequent fractures (bone breaking), most notably in the hip, spine or wrist. It may be exacerbated by lack of light exercise and improper diet. Your doctor can perform a Bone Mineral Density Test, which studies bone mass, to determine your risk for Osteoporosis and fractures.
We believe it is important to supplement the body with absorbable calcium and to eat properly to avoid Osteoporosis or its progression. Our Bone Builder Package contains Jarrow Bone-up, Doctor's Best Strontium and Source Naturals Arthred. Bone-up was shown in clinical studies to increase bone density and to provide nutrients to the osteoblasts and osteoclasts that help maintain bone flexibility. Bone-up contains MCHA (Micro-crystalline Hydroxy-Apetite), a bovine-source calcium that is highly absorbable for humans and other animals. Doctor's Best Strontium aids in the absorption of calcium directly to the bone when a person has trouble absorbing minerals and other nutrients. Arthred is shown in clinical studies to increase cartilage growth. Cartilage is the "cushion" at the end of each bone that aids in absorbing shock from walking and other activities. During an injury or over time, cartilage may be torn or worn away. Arthred helps to reverse this action.
No supplement will help with Osteoporosis if you fail to perform a minimum of light exercise, such as walking, dancing, swimming or light aerobic exercises, preferably every day. In addition, it is wise to stop drinking alcohol and sodas and stop eating processed foods. We recommend that you eat nuts that grow on trees, seeds, protein, fruits and vegetables. Drink water and herbal teas.
