I came into the store Saturday and spoke with John. He recommended ProHelp Cream for my hot flashes. He also said "no soy products." I want to know why I shouldn't have soy and does this mean no soy only while I am using the cream? - Sandra, Arcadia
Dear Sandra - Do you have a history of Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Uterine Fibroids, etc.? - Vicki
Vicki - I do have somewhat fibrocystic (lumpy) breasts but no cancer and I have my uterus. Looking forward to your response. - Sandra
Dear Sandra - Since you have a personal history of fibrocystic breasts, you are considered "estrogen-dominant." Under such circumstances, we recommend staying away from soy, red clover, black cohosh and other phyto-estrogens. The "jury" is out on that, but why take chances? I know of several customers whose "lumpy breasts" cleared up when they discontinued soy. While phytoestrogens Usually help with hot flashes in menopause, we believe they should not be used under the conditions you described.
I recommend using Kokoro's Women's Balance Creme. In addition, you should eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables (such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, turnip or mustard greens, kale, collard greens and Brussels sprouts) to wick away excess estrogens. If you prefer, you might consider using Enzymatic Therapy's Estrobalance w/DIM (diindolymethane), a compound in cruciferous vegetables shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer and other types of cancer cells in laboratory studies.
I also encourage you to stay away from refined foods, sugars and grains, leeching plastics and Styrofoam. When you purchase meat, poultry and fish, ask the meat cutter to wrap these foods in butcher paper. The chemicals and synthetic fibers of Styrofoam, those little "diapers" that soak up excess liquid and the plastic used to wrap it all, may cause what is known as "xeno-estrogens" which throw hormone balance into chaos and contribute to related diseases.
If we may be of further help, please let us know. - Vicki
