I am at my wits end with my son’s school. They tested him and said he has Attention Deficit Disorder and that he needs to be on medication or they will remove him from the classroom. Is there anything you can recommend as an alternative so he doesn’t have to take medication? ~ Geraldine/Whittier, CA
Dear Geraldine ~ ADD and ADHD are commonly misdiagnosed; many children have trouble focusing in school for a variety of reasons. Assuming there is a deficiency in the diet, we recommend the Child’s or Teen’s ADD Attention Package, which contains all the nutrients necessary to feed the tissues of the brain and aid with focus and attention span. If he is 10 or younger, use the Child’s package, 11 – 17, use the Teen’s package and, if older, use the Adult’s package. If he truly does have ADD/ADHD, your son will have it all his life. Regardless, fish oils, phosphatidyl serine, choline and inositol and other nutrients will normally benefit anyone, even those who do not actually have ADD/ADHD.
If at all possible, please eliminate sugars and mass-marketed sugar-substitutes (like those in the yellow, pink or blue packages) from your son’s diet.
