My son is coming home from performing missionary work in India and he has diarrhea. He has a history of I.B.S. and I would like to know what he needs to get well. He takes no prescription medications. - Denise/VA
First, Denise, we thank him for his selflessness in caring for others in need. We receive so many inquiries about health issues in conjunction with family/friends who serve as missionaries in countries like India, Pakistan, Africa and other nations with people in need of quality medical and spiritual care. It is not unusual for them to come home sick.
Before people leave for missionary work, we always recommend using Vital ImmuSol or NSC-100 at least 2 weeks before leaving for destination (more time is better, particularly when a person must have vaccinations before visiting various countries). At least one week before leaving for the trip, we recommend taking 2 upon rising and 2 at bedtime, and again at that dose one week before returning home. During the trip, a person may decrease dosage to 2 at bedtime; however, most find that they prefer keeping the dosage at therapeutic levels for the duration of the trip. If your son has not been using anything to protect immune system function, we suggest taking 2 upon rising and 2 at bedtime for a minimum of one month upon his return to the States.
For your son's I.B.S., we believe there is nothing better than the I.B.S. Kit (2 capsules from the morning bottle upon rising and 2 capsules from the evening bottle at bedtime) OR IntestiNEW powder (1 scoop mixed into water and consumed upon rising and again at bedtime).
Since there is great concern that people coming from nations' like India often contract parasites, we suggest using the Parasitology Specimen Kit (type SPECIMEN into the Product Search box in the upper/left area of any page at www.vitaganza.com to find the kit). Wormwood Combination (2 capsules 3 times per day with food) and Rascal (4 capsules 3 times per day with food - take both Wormwood Combination and Rascal together) will aid with killing parasites; however, they should be used at the appropriate time(s) of month, in conjunction with anti-fungals (see the Anti-parasitic/Anti-fungal Rotation Regimen in this KnowledgeBase under the category of Parasites and Anti-parasitics).
Using a probiotic also becomes very important. We suggest FloraMax50 or SupremaDophilus. Some people also like to perform a systemic cleanse upon arrival home using PSOE's (Vital Proteozymes or Wobenzym).
Diet becomes very important; if there is a chance that your son contracted a parasitic, fungal, viral or bacterial infection that is leading to his diarrhea, it is important to avoid all sugar, chemical sugar substitutes, processed foods, etc. Please see the Anti-fungal Diet under the category Diets and Cleanses in this KnowledgeBase.
