I can't find anything on your site addressing Hemochromatosis (too much iron in the body). I have been diagnosed with this, and I do a theraputic phlebotomy every 2weeks to get my iron levels down. Can you tell me if there is a product that will help with this? I am also very overweight with some leg swelling. I really need to learn to take care of myself, but will need help and good council. I am at work during your show and cannot call in. Thank you. Cindy Hampton ~ Denver, CO

Iron overload, as with any excessive amount of minerals, vitamins, bacteria, fungus, parasites, etc. indicates a congestion in the body that causes organs, such as the liver, kidneys and gallbladder to malfunction in properly detoxifying the body. No one knows the cause. However, we believe it can be from using synthetically manufactured, mass-marketed supplements available anywhere, or prescription medications, poor dietary habits (especially consumption of processed foods) or any of many issues, but most are generally considered to be "inherited," which could be something as simple as, "Grandma had it, Mom had it, and now so do I." We often believe that, all too often, "inherited" is erroneously co-mingled with a congenital defect, when in reality, "inherited" could simply mean in many cases, that generations of family members have been exposing themselves to the same toxin(s), or dietary mistakes, or something very simple that can explain this problem.

With today's rapid pace, many doctors find that they are unable to take the time to fully interview their patients to ascertain the true cause(s) of a problem and, while testing is very helpful, testing is only as good as the doctor's ability to request the proper tests for their patient. Many doctors are frustrated because they can no longer be the doctor they wished to become when they attended medical school (due to government, insurance and pharmaceutical constraints).

In our opinion, a Phlebotomy is merely a Band-Aid that does not address something more serious going on in your body, so until you address the root cause of excessive iron, nothing will change.

So, what can you do?

Systemic detoxification of the body should be very helpful. Assuming that you are not using any prescription blood thinners (which can cause heart attack, stroke, bruising, bleeding, etc. as part of their extensive list of side-effects), you might consider using a PSOE to cleanse your body from head to toe. Vital Proteozymes, Ultra Proteozymes or Wobenzym (begin with 5 upon rising, 5 midday and 5 at bedtime, EMPTY STOMACH, taken at least 45 minutes before or 2 hours after food consumption, then increase to a minimum of 10 upon rising, 10 midday and 10 at bedtime, EMPTY STOMACH, taken at least 45 minutes before or 2 hours after food consumption), are recommended. Each person being different, some may need to take more PSOE's per day and they are considered safe at any level; although, they tend to loosen the stool initially until the person becomes acclimated to detoxifying (some may become more constipated initially, as they detox quickly into the bowel, if the bowel cannot keep up, but this should go away quickly - if not, add-in FiberSMART).

If there is a metal, chemical or mineral overload (as in your case, Cindy), we recommend combining the PSOE with Yaeyama Chlorella (10 or more tablets with each dose of PSOE's - a total of 30 - 60 tablets per day in divided doses). Read more about PSOE's by typing PSOE into the Search the KnowledgeBase box in this KnowledgeBase.

It is also important to follow the Anti-Fungal Diet, which may be found under Diets and Cleanses in this KnowledgeBase. If you are unwilling to correct your diet, this regimen cannot work for you.

Enhancing immune system function using Vital ImmuSol or NSC-100 and also a probiotic, such as FloraMax50, Vital Flora or SupremaDophilus will be helpful. Women should consider using EFA's (Omega-3 Super Enteric-coat, Complete EFA's, Black Currant Seed Oil softgels).

It is important to be diligent with this regimen for at least 3 months to give it an honest try and, again, diet is essential. For Hemochromotosis, try consuming beets 2-3 times per week in your raw salads (use Beet Juice Tablets, if you do not care for beets). Beets are a great blood toner and should be most helpful. Avoid grains (particularly soy) and so-called "fortified" cereals and other processed foods, as these contain synthetic vitamins and minerals. Drink plenty of water to flush your body.
