There can be many causes of skin conditions, discoloration and change in pigment; the following are the most common issues, along with probable causes and possible natural remedies (which may also pertain to a variety of other skin anomalies):
Lipofuscin:
Yellow/brown pigment patches on skin in aged (can also be confused as "age spots") caused by deposits of sugars, metals (especially mercury, aluminium, iron, copper and zinc) in fatty lipids built up in the liver, kidney, heart, adrenals and central nervous system.
This can lead to neurodegenerative disease, liver and kidney disease, COPD, macular degeneration and other degeneration eye disorders, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease and auto-immune disorders.
Natural products that may relieve Lipfuscin include PSOE's (proteolytic systemic oral enzymes, such as Vital Proteozymes or Wobenzym), Yaeyama Chlorella and Omega-3 from fish oils, preferably enterically-coated.
Melasma (aka chloasma faciei - or mask of pregnancy):
Dark, irregular patches found on upper cheek, nose, lips, upper lip and forehead, nearly always after exposure to sun. Often present in pregnant women; although, often occurs in pre and post-menopausal women (although also common among Native American men and women as well as men/women of German/Russian and Jewish decent on the face). It is also increased in those suffering from thyroid disease and some who are allergic to medications and/or cosmetics.
Caused by birth control or other HRT use.
Melasma usually goes away when a pregnant woman delivers, can be created by a lack of sufficient progesterone, and can also be resolved in older men and women by bringing hormonal imbalance into balance.
Natural products that may relieve Melasma: In older men and women, progesterone creams are usually beneficial. Women may need estrogen (red clover and other natural plant estrogens - Pure Essence Transitions or Kokoro EstroHerb Creme) and men may need more testosterone (MRM Tribest) but both should accompany these with progesterone creme (women - Kokoro Women's Balance Creme; men - Kokoro Men's Prostate Creme)
Vitiligo Vitiligo is considered to be an auto-immune disorder that results in depigmentation of skin and it effects more people today than has ever been indicated previously. No one knows what causes Vitiligo; however, it is likely to be a combination of deficiencies of vitamins and/or minerals (specifically Copper, Zinc and B-vitamins, particularly Biotin and Vitamins A and D) and fungal overgrowth. Products recommended: theraepeutic amounts of Vital Proteozymes, Vital ImmuSol, SupremaDophilus or FloraMax50, B-total sublingual or B-125, Beta Carotene. Therapies recommended: Anti-fungal Rotation (find this under Fungus and Anti-fungals; use the products suggested there), Anti-fungal Diet (find this under Diets and Cleanses).
Skin Tags "Skin tags" are a catch-all used to describe tiny flat or finger-shaped skin protrusions on the body and they may occur anywhere; although, they are found mostly around the neck, face and ears. So-called skin tags, which may also be termed fibers or miniscule polyps, are likely to be caused by both parasites and fungus, as diligently following the combination of the Anti-Parasitic/Anti-fungal Rotation Regimen and the Anti-fungal Diet, normally resolves the issue.
Warts Warts are viral growths of many types; the most prevalent are common warts and plantar warts. Common warts are usually found on hands, knees and elbows. They are raised and fairly simple to resolve. Hanna Kroeger suggested mixing castor oil and baking soda together into a paste and applying it 2-3 times per day. In a couple of weeks, the wart will fall off. Plantar warts may be addressed the same way; however, because the feet are often covered by shoes, become sweaty, etc., plantar warts may be tougher to resolve. We suggest not wearing shoes whenever possible and to use tea tree powder in socks when shoes are worn. Oil of Oregano may be another consideration.
Lipoma A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) fatty lump just under the top layer of skin; it is not painful or tender to touch and is normally found in middle-age to older people. They also occur in pets. Nothing needs to be done with them; they are most likely caused by a high fat/high carbohydrate diet in a sedentary person. When the body cannot detoxify itself of excess fat, deposits occur subcutaneously. The best way to rid the body of lipomas is a high protein/low carb and fat diet and with exercise. Be sure to drink plenty of water to flush (tea, coffee, sodas, etc. do not count and actually add to the problem). Supplements that help include Vital Proteozymes (therapeutic doses), DGX, FloraMax50 or SupremaDophilus and natural Vitamin C from acerola cherry.
Cystic Acne (blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, pustules and scarring) Cystic Acne, resulting in mild to severe skin eruptions in the form of blackheads, whiteheads or pustules / bloody cysts, has been helped, in general, using a combination of Vital Proteozymes (5 upon rising, 5 midday and 5 at bedtime for 7-10 days, then increase to 10 upon rising, 10 midday and 10 at bedtime for 2-3 months), Vital ImmuSol (2 upon rising, 2 midday and 2 at bedtime for 1 month, then may decrease to 2 upon rising and 2 at bedtime for 2-3 months) and FloraMax50 (2 upon rising and 2 at bedtime for 2-3 months), all on an empty stomach, taken a minimum of 45 minutes before or 2 hours after food consumption. Diet plays an extremely important role in this, as well. Following the Anti-fungal Diet (http://kb.vitaganza.com/questions/48/Anti-Fungal+Diet+Recommendations) and the Anti-fungal Rotation Regimen (http://kb.vitaganza.com/questions/50/Anti-Fungal+Rotation+Regimen) is also very helpful for most. Cystic acne may also be caused or worsened from dental work (specifically allergic reaction to the chemicals/sealants and metals used), including braces, bridges, crowns, etc., which may be linked to Neurocutaneous Syndrome (NCS) - see the article below under attachments. If this describes your concerns, adding Yaeyama Chlorella to the Vital Proteozyme/Vital ImmuSol/FloraMax50 regimen above should be helpful.
Bruising Most often, bruising is caused by the use of prescription blood thinners, such as Warfarin (Coumadin), Heparin, etc. Certain prescription blood pressure medications, steroids and other medications can cause the blood to thin, as well. Your best friend in the Prescription Game is your Pharmacist, who knows even more than most doctors which prescriptions should be used with other prescriptions, the side-effects, whether or not there should be hours between different types of medications, or even whether or not a new prescription is dangerous for your specific needs, based upon other prescriptions you have filled with that pharmacy. This is a great reason why you should only use ONE pharmacy!
Bruising can also be caused by certain blood disorders. Consumption of mass-quantities of raw fruits (especially papaya, pineapple, mangoes, etc.), fish oils, ginkgo biloba and other various supplements; although, this is generally not an issue unless taken with prescription blood thinners. Only your medical doctor knows for certain the viscocity of your blood and this is an important thing to know, so ASK!
